Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: Further to Reply 17201 (2026), of the 183 potential traffic offences recorded against 113 individuals in the cohort between 1 February and 31 October 2025, (a) how many of those offences have since been confirmed following investigation; (b) how many have been withdrawn or found not to constitute an offence; (c) what were the most common categories of offence recorded; and (d) how many of the 183 offences relate to commercial driving activities?

Hon Chris Bishop: NZTA advises me that the current outcome statuses of the 183 potential traffic offences referred to are as follows: • Waived: 5 • Withdrawn: 2 • Discharged Without Conviction: 2 • Ordered to Pay Fine: 26 • Fine Paid: 134 • Convicted and Sentenced: 13 One offence has yet to have an outcome recorded as at 14 May 2026. The five most common categories of offence recorded are as follows: • Speeding (including safety camera offences). • Vehicle Related Offences: • Logbooks, Driving Hours & Vehicle Related Offences. • Manner of Driving. • Driver Licence and Vehicle Licensing Offences:. 58 of these traffic offence records occurred while driving commercially.
