19304 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: Further to 81770 (2024), how many, if any, referrals have been made for family and whānau of Oranga Tamariki military-style academy pilot participants to any intervention identified that the family/whānau may require?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised by Oranga Tamariki that support for whānau of the participants has included referrals for housing, Ministry for Social Development services, and a parenting course. In the same way that this is a small cohort of young people participating who are potentially identifiable, there is a small group of whānau involved. I do not think it is in the public interest to provide numbers regarding their individual needs.
