Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: What, if anything, is occurring during the implementation of the Oranga Tamariki military-style academy pilot to enact a clear process agreed with roles/responsibilities for response to any significant issue, situation or event (reoffending, arrest, breach of plan, serious family event) that may occur?

Hon Karen Chhour: Oranga Tamariki is the lead agency for the Military-Style Academy Pilot and it is subject to their standard practice, policies, procedures, roles and responsibilities and escalation processes. I am advised by Oranga Tamariki that these include responses to significant issues, which Oranga Tamariki periodically experiences and manages as part of business-as-usual operations in their youth justice work.
