Hon Julie Anne Genter to the Minister of Transport: Are the time-savings for bus users quoted in the Minister's press release about the preferred option for the second Mt Victoria tunnel and SH1 upgrades a result of the committed RONS project only, or do they rely on additional improvements to bus priority on the Wellington Quays, and if the latter, do those improvements receive any central government funding from the current National Land Transport Programme?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that the potential future time-savings for bus users quoted in the press release issued by the previous Minister of Transport are directly attributable to the changes proposed as part of the SH1 Wellington Improvements project. In the case of the number 2 bus, the travel time savings are reliant on Greater Wellington Regional Council opting to reroute the bus to take advantage fo the more efficient state highway network.
