19286 (2025). Hon Julie Anne Genter to the Minister of Transport: What is the total scope of the preferred option for the second Mount Victoria Tunnel and SH1 upgrades in Wellington?

Hon Chris Bishop: The scope for the SH1 Wellington Improvements project approved by the NZTA Board in October 2024 includes a second Mt Victoria Tunnel parallel to the existing tunnel, upgrades to the Basin Reserve to provide grade separation between SH1 and local roads, a duplicate Terrace Tunnel and wider network improvements to maximise benefits along the SH1 corridor through Wellington.
