19265 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport
Written Question
Published date: 12 May 2025
19265 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: Was road safety considered when deciding which roads would or would not be subject to speed limit reversals and, if so, what advice, reports, briefings, aides memoire, or any other documents, if any, did the Minister or any member of their Office receive listed by subject and date?
Hon Chris Bishop: The criteria used by the NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi was whether the roads fall into the four specified categories and whether the speed was lowered after 1 January 2020. This was the only criteria defined under the Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2024 for reversals.
As such, no advice, reports, briefings, aides memoire, or other documents were provided to the myself or my office on this topic.
