19255 (2025). Tamatha Paul to the Minister of Housing: Are there incentives or obligations for Kāinga Ora to prioritise climate-resilient and energy-efficient builds, especially in areas prone to flooding or heat stress?

Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that there are no official financial incentives provided to drive prioritisation of climate-resilient and energy efficient builds. The Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities Act 2019 currently requires Kāinga Ora to operate in a manner that recognises environmental values, as well as the need to mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change.
