19177 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: How much, if any, of the $70 million upfront operating supplement made available to Community Housing Providers has been drawn down as at the most recent reporting date?
Hon Chris Bishop: In November 2024, the Government announced changes that enable fair competition for providers seeking funding to deliver social housing. One of these changes was to pay part of the Operating Supplement to community housing providers upfront, for new housing developments, instead of over time. This capital funding was agreed in principle at up to $70 million.
At Budget 2025, the actual upfront Operating Supplement allocated was $82 million. As of 1 May 2026, $25.7 million of the upfront Operating Supplement has been drawn down for places funded through Budget 2024 and Budget 2025. A further $49.2 million has been committed for these same places.
