19159 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: What progress, if any, has been made on the legislative changes to the requirements for Auckland Plan Change 120 being progressed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and the Ministry for the Environment?

Hon Chris Bishop: Significant progress has been made: the Resource Management (Auckland Housing) Amendment Act 2026 received Royal assent on 2 April 2026, the Resource Management (Direction for the Intensification Streamlined Planning Process to Auckland Council) Notice was updated after consultation between Ministers and Auckland Council. It was signed on 29 April 2026 and gazetted on 4 May 2026, coming into force the following day; Auckland Council will now progress Plan Change 120 under the amended Act and direction, including deciding what changes to make, then undertaking an additional submissions process.
