19129 (2025). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister for Trade and Investment: Is the Minister aware of any potential economic risks of aligning New Zealand’s space and defence activities so closely with the United States; if so, what; if not, why not?

Hon Todd McClay: New Zealand’s partnership with the United States remains one of our most long-standing and important. We cooperate on many issues, including space and defence activities, where it is in our interests to do so. Cooperation with the US on space issues is an important component of our overall relationship and has been a substantial contributor to the success of the domestic launch industry in New Zealand.
