19126 (2025). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister of Defence: Does the Minister agree with the US Navy that Project Overmatch would advance naval warfighting capabilities; if so, why has the New Zealand Defence Force denied that the Tui and Korimako satellite payloads could be used in any way to support military operations?
Hon Judith Collins: The Tui and Korimako payloads are for research purposes only and have no direct utility for military operations. They are intended to build knowledge and, in turn, inform decisions around future space capabilities that the NZDF may want to pursue. Project Overmatch has no relationship with NZDF research on space payloads.
