19100 (2025). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister of Justice: How many new positions for staff who are not lawyers who will represent defendants in court (if any) are proposed in the change proposal of the Public Defence Service which is currently being consulted on?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: I am advised that, in the change proposal currently being consulted on, there are 12 new positions proposed for staff who are not lawyers and do not represent clients in court. There would be an overall net reduction of 11 positions that do not represent clients in court.
