19056 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Justice
Written Question
Published date: 29 May 2026
19056 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Justice: What work has the Electoral Commission completed since December 2025 towards communicating 2025 boundary changes to effected electorates, if any?
Hon Paul Goldsmith: I am advised that the Commission has information about changes to the electorate names and boundaries on its website, including an interactive map to make it easy to find your electorate. Now that 7 May has passed, being the date that Parliament can agree not to hold a by-election, the ‘Find my Electorate’ maps on vote.nz are being updated to show the new electorates.
The Commission has updated the enrol online application, so when people check their enrolment details online or call the Commission’s 0800 service their new electorate is listed.
The Commission has answered questions about changes to electorate names and boundaries through its customer service channels.
Changes to electorates were highlighted at a media briefing held by the Electoral Commission in March 2026 and key messages about the boundary changes were included in a media kit shared with journalist in March.
The Electoral Commission also supported the Representation Commission to release the final electorate names and boundaries in August 2025. This included distribution of the final report, a media briefing, media release, website information and social media posts.
