18960 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister for Racing: Did he direct, request, or otherwise initiate the TAB NZ advisory committee report on the racing industry's sustainability; and if not, why does the committee's covering letter state the report was requested by him?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: We did not direct, request, or otherwise initiate the TAB NZ advisory committee report. The report was on an initiative of TAB NZ. While a leaked covering letter from the committee chair indicated the report was requested by me, this was incorrect. A spokesperson for our office has confirmed we did not commission the report, and we understand the chair has since acknowledged that this reference in the letter was made in error.
