18945 (2026). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: What assessment has been made of the number of local Christchurch or South Island jobs supported through the Christchurch Men’s Prison redevelopment, if any?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that the consortium selected to build the prison facilities estimate that the peak workforce for the project will number approximately 600, across multiple trade disciplines. It is expected these will be drawn mainly from Christchurch and the wider South Island.
