18942 (2026). Ingrid Leary to the Minister of Transport: Has the government directed Waka Kotahi to consider strategic solutions, such as additional State Highway 1 access points, alongside intersection upgrades in the Mosgiel and Taieri area; if not, why not?

Hon Chris Bishop: No. NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) used transport modelling evidence to help identify intersections that could potentially be upgraded to improve access into and out of Mosgiel. The State Highway 1 (SH1) and Riccarton Road intersection and SH1/87 and SH87/Gordon Road intersections have been included for consideration in NZTA’s optimisation project investment case.
