18767 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: Further to 5259 (2026), how were social workers involved earlier in the selection process for participants in the second Oranga Tamariki Military-Style Academy?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised that when the second Military-Style Academy (MSA) programme was being planned, youth justice social workers participated in sessions to build their knowledge and understanding of the programme benefits. At that time, they were encouraged to nominate suitable young people for the programme.
