18741 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: Further to 5259 (2026), what roles required extra clarity in the second Oranga Tamariki Military-Style Academy and how has this clarity been achieved, if at all?
Hon Karen Chhour: The previous response referred to roles such as the site social workers and providing clarity on how they would work with the Military-Style Academy (MSA) residential team.
I am advised that this has been achieved through a collaborative approach from the programme team and the work of the Young Serious Offender Practice Lead, and ongoing communication and support of social workers the young people on the MSA Programme. Those social workers were invited to the two-week MSA staff training programme to help provide clarity and understanding of the various roles and responsibilities involved in delivering the programme.
