18726 (2026). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Had the Chair of the Financial Market Authority not resigned, would the Minister have sacked him?

Cameron Brewer: Under the Crown Entities Act 2004, the Governor-General may remove a member of an independent Crown entity from office for just cause. The Minister may only recommend this to the Governor-General after consultation with the Attorney-General.
