18725 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: Further to 5242 (2026), what progress has been made in Oranga Tamariki's modelling of extended residential, supervision and supervision with activity orders, including on developing forecasts, working through the impacts of extended durations with relevant providers, and refining the procurement approach?

Hon Karen Chhour: The modelling referred to is part of the preparation for the Oranga Tamariki (Responding to Serious Youth Offending) Amendment Bill, which has been reported back from the Social Services and Community Committee. I am advised that Oranga Tamariki continues to plan for the passing of the legislation. Final arrangements for these orders will be made closer to enactment.
