18714 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: Further to Replies 17212 and 17213 (2026), during the period February 2025 to August 2025, did any individual within NZTA consider whether the potential presence of fraudulently licensed commercial drivers on New Zealand roads constituted a road safety risk that warranted earlier notification to NZ Police; and if so, what was the outcome of that consideration, and if not, why not?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised by NZTA that the formal notification to the Police was made in August 2025, following the confirmation of fraud in July 2025. I refer the member to my response to 11429 (2026) for the actions taken by NZTA during the period between initial detection and confirmation of fraud.
