18714 (2025). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister of Finance: How does the change in trading partner forecast growth compare to Treasury’s long-term trend expectations for partner growth, and what does that imply for New Zealand’s export strategy?

Hon Nicola Willis: The Treasury will release latest assessments on trading partner forecasts in the Budget Economic Fiscal Update 2025 on 22 May 2025. I am unable to disclose forecasts ahead of publication. However, at the Half Year Economic Fiscal Update 2024, the Treasury stated the outlook for trading partner growth was gradually slowing relative to the long-term trend, mainly reflecting developments in China and the United States.
