18658 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Rail: What cost pressures within relevant portfolio Votes, if any, has the Minister been informed of since 1 January 2026?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: The Minister for Rail has no portfolio responsibility for a Vote. The Minister for Rail is an appropriation Minister regarding funds for Ferry Holdings, and our approval is required for releasing equity payments to KiwiRail and Ferry Holdings, but these sit within Vote Finance and Vote Transport. However, with respect to KiwiRail and Ferry Holdings appropriations within those votes: none, as all approved budget programmes are operating within appropriations.
