18575 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Corrections: What changes to bail support services, if any, has Corrections made since November 2023 to date, and what were the changes?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Corrections has made the following changes to Bail Support Services (BSS) since November 2023:
• implemented services in Rotorua, Tokoroa and Taupō from December 2023, and in Manawatū from February 2024.
• reduced bail support services and ceased service implementation in six regions in 2024 to redirect resources to support BSS in regions where the service was already fully rolled out and established.
I am also advised that between 2024 and early 2026, a review of BSS was conducted. As a result of this review, Corrections has begun to make targeted refinements to the BSS operating model to improve service delivery and will also be discontinuing the contracted community-based support services component of BSS. These changes will ensure BSS is better aligned towards achieving Corrections’ organisational outcomes and that the programmes and services Corrections invest in deliver clear results.
