18545 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: Further to 5259 (2026), what is the increased support for social workers who have increased workload intensity due to the second Oranga Tamariki Military-Style Academy and when does it commence?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised that the second Military-Style Academy (MSA) programme is utilising the recently introduced Young Serious Offender Practice Lead role to support social workers working with the young people, including having conversations about caseloads. I am further advised that support also includes a community of practice for social workers, practice leaders, supervisors and managers for planning purposes and to set practice expectations.
