18311 (2025). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Police: Is it his view that moving the Firearms Safety Authority out of Police to another agency will increase trust and confidence in the Firearms Safety Authority, if not, why not?

Hon Mark Mitchell: My view is that the coalition agreement between National and Act agrees to "transfer responsibility for the Arms Act 1983, policy and regulation to the Ministry of Justice, and transfer the Firearms Safety Authority, administrator of the Act, to another department such as the Department of Internal Affairs."
