18209 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Associate Minister of Transport: Does the Minister expect Q2 2026 overseas ship visit figures to show a further decline given the Strait of Hormuz was effectively closed from late February 2026 and Q1 data captures only approximately one month of disruption, and has the Ministry modelled scenarios for the impact on ship visits if the strait remains closed or substantially restricted through to the end of 2026?
Hon James Meager: No. The Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment is the lead agency on fuel supplies. The Ministry of Transport has not undertaken any modelling to understand the impact of a prolonged closure of the Straits of Hormuz on overseas ship visits to New Zealand.
