Tangi Utikere to the Associate Minister of Transport: What assessment has the Minister received on the impact of the Strait of Hormuz closure and resumed Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping on container shipping schedules and freight capacity to New Zealand, after container ship visits fell 14.7 percent between Q1 2025 and Q1 2026?

Hon James Meager: Officials are in regular contact with the international shipping lines and advise that there have been no changes to the schedules and capacity of container services to New Zealand.
