18198 (2025). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister of Health: What initiatives, if any, are in place to remove barriers to healthcare access for marginalized communities, particularly Māori and Pasifika populations?
Hon Simeon Brown: As I said in Written Parliamentary Question 16094 (2025), our Government is committed to improving health outcomes for all New Zealanders, including Māori. That’s why we have brought back the health targets to reduce wait times and ensure patients are seen sooner, made significant investments to improve access to GP clinics and community healthcare, and maintained a strong focus on early intervention.
