18186 (2026). Arena Williams to the Minister for Building and Construction: What technical advice, if any, has MBIE recently provided on the inclusion of Structural Insulated Panels and insulated panel systems in building exemptions; and where, if any, can the public find this advice?

Hon Chris Penk: I have been provided with advice on the inclusion of Structural Insulated Panel systems (SIPs) in Schedule 1A of the Building Act 2004 in briefings, weekly reports, and in meetings with officials. The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) will ensure that its publicly available guidance on non-consented small stand-alone dwellings includes information on SIPs once Schedule 1A has been updated.
