18185 (2026). Arena Williams to the Minister for Building and Construction: What consultation, if any, has been done with councils, insurers, designers, engineers, builders, and product suppliers, on Structural Insulated Panels and insulated panel systems in building exemptions?

Hon Chris Penk: The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) undertook targeted engagement with a select group of councils, building professionals, off-site builders and manufacturers of Structural Insulated Panel systems (SIPs) in April 2026. Feedback from these groups has been positive and will inform proposed changes to Schedule 1A of the Building Act 2004.
