18181 (2026). Arena Williams to the Minister for Building and Construction: Does the Minister believe that CodeMark documentation, installation manuals, structural documentation, and maintenance requirements, as applicable, need to be provided to homeowners and Councils for granny flats; if not, why not?
Hon Chris Penk: Information relating to CodeMark certification can be publicly found on building.govt.nz. It is up to individual product manufacturers to provide guidance and installation manuals on their products to the people who they sell those products to. Building professionals are required under the Building Act 2004 to ensure that all building products and building methods used in carrying out building work are used in a manner that complies with the building code.
