18173 (2026). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for ACC: Would Accident Compensation Corporation support an independent review of the proposed changes to motorcycle levies; if not, why not?

Hon Scott Simpson: I am advised by ACC that it does not consider that a further independent review of the motorcycle levy changes consulted on in the 2024 levy consultation is necessary. These changes were approved by Cabinet in 2024, after considering feedback from the public consultation. The changes were developed through ACC’s established actuarial pricing process, which applies professional standards and uses claims data and projections to inform levy recommendations, as outlined in the 2025/28 Motor Vehicle Account Pricing Report – https://www.shapeyouracc.co.nz/assets/Consult-docs/2024/20240630-Pricing-Report-2026-2028-Motor-Vehicles-Account-final.pdf. However, ACC is committed to continually improving its pricing approach and will consider what is appropriate as part of the 2027 consultation.
