18151 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Regulation
Written Question
Published date: 01 May 2025
18151 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Regulation: What impact has the Ministry for Regulation had on overall business confidence or economic performance in New Zealand, according to any internal or independent evaluations, if any such evaluations exist?
Hon David Seymour: The Ministry for Regulation (the Ministry) already makes information publicly available through the Ministry’s website, the Public Service Commission’s workforce data, and is well surveyed and examined through scrutiny week both at Estimates scheduled for 17 June 2025, and again in Annual review in December.
The Ministry was established on 1 March 2024 and despite being exempt from producing an Annual Report for the 2023-24 year, meets its obligations through the annual accountability cycle process. The next Annual Report for the 2024-25 financial year will be published in September 2025. Recent evidence is available here:
Estimates scrutiny
Report on Appropriations
Strategic Intentions
Ministry publications and proactive releases
PSC Workforce data
I do not consider it to be in the public interest to ask my officials to undertake a significant exercise to provide specific feedback in the time allowed for a WPQ, as it will require a diversion of resources that will interfere with the operation of the agency.
This is also my reply to written parliamentary questions 18154, 18156, 18159, 18160, 18162, 18163, 18164, 18165, 18166, 18168, 18170, 18171, 18172, 18174, 18176, 18177, 18178, 18179, 18181, 18182, 18183, 18186 (2025).
