18131 (2026). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Climate Change: Why might there be a NZU shortfall in the late 2020s?
Hon Simon Watts: Climate Change Commission's ETS Advice for 2026 states: "Over the last year, the surplus has continued to be drawn down faster than expected. This results in a risk of a unit shortfall under status quo auction volumes." The assessment of the possibility of an NZU shortfall is in the Climate Change Commission's ETS Advice for 2026, which is publicly available in full.
