17990 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: If the proposed changes to Vehicle Dimensions and Mass weight limits, over-dimension route and time restrictions, and EV licence-class thresholds would save fuel, why is their implementation being delayed until a Phase 2 decision rather than being implemented immediately to extend Phase 1 fuel-saving measures?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that proposed changes to licence class weight thresholds were consulted on as part of my Land Transport Rules Reform programme from 25 February – 25 March 2026. I am expecting to consider final advice on Rule changes, including timing and implementation, shortly.
