17953 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: How, if at all, does Kāinga Ora ensure that its engagement with staff during any restructuring processes is clear and transparent?
Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that it aims to engage with employees in a way that is open, clear, and transparent throughout any restructuring process. Employees who may be affected by proposed changes are provided with information about what is being considered and why, and are given time and opportunity to share their feedback. Feedback is genuinely considered before decisions are made, and there are opportunities for people to ask questions and seek clarification along the way. This approach reflects Kāinga Ora’s good faith obligations and commitments under relevant employment agreements, while also recognising the importance of treating people with care during periods of change. Once decisions are made, outcomes are communicated to affected employees as early as possible, along with next steps and available support.
