Written Question
Published date: 15 May 2026
17927 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Prime Minister: Further to his reply to Written Parliamentary Question 219 (2026), in which he confirms contact occurred between Hon Chris Bishop's office, the Cabinet Office, and his office on 18 and 19 November 2025 in relation to oral questions about the Melling Interchange, and further to his reply to Written Parliamentary Question 220 (2026), in which he states there was no contact in relation to statements to the House on 19 November 2025 about the Melling Interchange, can he explain the distinction being drawn between "oral questions" and "statements to the House" on 19 November 2025, and confirm whether the contact on that date acknowledged in his reply to Written Parliamentary Question 219 (2026) included any discussion of statements made or to be made to the House?
Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: My response to Written Parliamentary Question (WPQ) 219 (2026) was responding to a number of questions from the member’s colleague “in relation to oral questions on 18 and 19 November” (2025), which included WPQs 222, 223, 224, 234 and 232 (2026).
My response to WPQ 220 (2026) was also responding to a tranche of questions from the member’s colleague, which referred to both specific oral questions (WPQs 221, 225, 226, 227, 228, 229, and 230) (2026) as well as “statements made to the House” (WPQs 231 and 233) (2026).
I understood the reference to “statements made to the House on Wednesday 19 November” to be referring to Hon Chris Bishop’s response to a point of order, and my previous answers reflect this.
