Written Question

17905 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: Further to his reply to Written Parliamentary Question 55045 (2025), does he accept that the funding shortfall for the City Link Bridge that prompted Hutt City Council's variation request arose as a result of changes to the walking and cycling activity class in the Government Policy Statement on Land Transport 2024, and if so, does he consider it appropriate that Infrastructure Acceleration Fund housing money was used to address a funding gap created by a Government policy decision in his own electorate?
Hon Chris Bishop: The City Link Bridge project received funding from the Infrastructure Acceleration Fund because it was aligned with the fund’s objective: supporting councils to accelerate delivery of infrastructure projects that enable housing growth. The Infrastructure Acceleration Fund does not fund any houses anywhere, it funds infrastructure.
