17656 (2026). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Education: Does the new SMART tool allow students to view reports that provide information about how well they are doing in relation to other population cohorts such as, year, gender, ethnicity and English as a second language and if not, why not?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education that students cannot view comparative population group reports. The Student Monitoring, Assessment and Reporting Tool (SMART) produces one report for students and a range of reports for teachers. The student report focuses on parts of the curriculum they are positively progressing in and their next learning steps.
