17432 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: When will details regarding the number of available placements, their locations, and start date for the primary care registration pathway for overseas doctors be finalised?

Hon Simeon Brown: Our Government is funding a new two-year primary care training programme for up to 100 extra overseas-trained doctors once they are registered to work in New Zealand as part our focus on delivering access to timely, quality healthcare for all New Zealanders. I am advised that Health New Zealand is working with primary care organisations and districts, and that confirmation about the first cohort will be made in due course.
