17356 (2026). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Transport: Has he asked officials for advice on increasing the frequency or availability of public transport since the beginning of the fuel crisis, and if not, why not?
Hon Chris Bishop: Right now, the Government's focus is on ensuring existing public transport services across the country can cope with the increases in demand they are experiencing.
Public Transport Authorities have advised that they generally have good available capacity on services, especially off-peak. We are open to further investment to ensure capacity is maintained, if it is shown to be necessary.
