17295 (2026). Mike Davidson to the Minister of Internal Affairs: Since January 2021, have any new volunteer recruits received live fire training as part of, or at the same time as their volunteer firefighter recruit course, and if so, how many, broken down by year and quarter, received live fire training at the same time they completed their volunteer firefighter recruit course?

Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised that live fire training is not part of the volunteer firefighter recruit course and is not delivered at the same time as that course. As a result, no volunteer recruits have received live fire training as part of, or at the same time as, their recruit course since January 2021. However, live fire training is delivered when volunteers progress to qualified firefighter rank.
