17282 (2025). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister for Courts

Written Question
Published date: 28 Apr 2025
17282 (2025). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister for Courts: How many cases, if any, were heard in the Court of Appeal in 2025, and how many, if any, are projected to be heard in 2025?
Hon Nicole McKee: I am advised that the Ministry of Justice interpreted the reference to “heard” in the first part of your question as referring to the number of cases that have had an outcome in the Court of Appeal in 2025 to date. As at 31 March 2025, 50 cases have had an outcome of either ‘Dismissed’, ‘Allowed’ or ‘Allowed Part-heard’ in the Court of Appeal in 2025. As to the second part of your question regarding projected hearings for 2025, the Ministry of Justice does not hold this information. Scheduling of court matters is managed by the Court itself, not the Ministry.
