17224 (2026). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What Artificial Intelligence (AI) model, if any, was used to develop subject exemplars for SMART (Student Monitoring, Assessment and Reporting Tool) delivered assessments?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) used GPT 5.4 as a drafting tool. All outputs were treated as preliminary and were not published without comprehensive human oversight. Ministry specialists and subject matter experts independently reviewed, tested, and refined each exemplar to ensure accuracy, curriculum alignment, fairness, and suitability for student assessment.
