Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What reports, briefings, emails, memos, aides-memoire, notes or written advice, if any, has the Minister received regarding Artificial Intelligence use in SMART (Student Monitoring, Assessment and Reporting Tool) development, SMART delivered assessments, or subject exemplars produced for SMART delivered assessments; listed by date, title, and agency received?
Hon Erica Stanford: I have received the following briefings regarding Artificial Intelligence use in Student Monitoring, Assessment and Reporting Tool (SMART) development, SMART delivered assessments, or subject exemplars produced for SMART delivered assessments: • 14 December 2023: Report - Progressing commitments related to assessment and aromatawai • 8 October 2024: Report -Twice-yearly assessment of Year 3 to 8 students (Phase 1) • 4 December 2024: Report - Assessment and Aromatawai Standardised Tool Business Case 17 January 2025: Report - Draft cabinet paper and Budget 25 pre-approval letter- establishing a new Standardised Tool for Assessment and Aromatawai • 14 May 2025: Report - Direction for drafting of assessment and aromatawai requirements • 28 November 2025: Report- Assessment and reporting Tool (SMART) Assessments. This answer does not cover members of my office who receive a large amount of material every week. Asking them to collate that material would require substantial collation and research and prevent them from undertaking their substantive roles.
