17212 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: Further to Reply 13163 (2026), what was the reason for the further period of approximately three and a half months between the formal notification of NZ Police on 1 August 2025 and the formal advice provided to the NZ Police Road Safety Intelligence Team on 18 November 2025; and what, if any, specific road safety risks were communicated by NZTA to any part of NZ Police during that intervening period?
Hon Chris Bishop: During the period between formal notification to NZ Police on 1 August 2025 and formal advice to the NZ Police Road Safety Intelligence Team on 18 November 2025, NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) was seeking evidence of licence validity from affected individuals, allowing time for individuals to respond, and for NZTA to review and audit the responses and documentation received. No specific road safety risks were identified or communicated during this period.
