17211 (2026). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for Disability Issues: What is the number of Residential Disability beds in New Zealand per quarter for the past six financial years?

Hon Louise Upston: I refer the Member to the attached table, which provides the number of individuals who have had their needs assessed as requiring the level of support provided by residential-based support services. The Ministry of Social Development’s Disability Support Services funds these services based on the number and level of needs of individuals that are assessed to require residential care, meaning funding is aligned with actual support requirements. This is also my response to written parliamentary question 17184 (2026).
