Hon Mark Mitchell: Corrected reply: Police does not have a specific offence code for petrol or diesel thefts from a retail premises (often known as drive offs) and therefore measures these offences by counting theft offences under $500 recorded at service station forecourts. This means that a very small amount of other theft from service station forecourts may be included within the data provided, but Police does not consider that this has a material effect on the data captured. For example, theft from service station shops is recorded as shoplifting and therefore would not be captured in the table provided. I refer the Member to the attached table, which shows the count of drive offs (theft offences under $500 recorded at service station forecourts), broken down by Police district and month between 1 March 2024 and 31 March 2026.
