17187 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Vocational Education: How many students were enrolled in each Institute of Technology and Polytechnic division of Te Pūkenga, as at 1 April and 1 October for the 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 years?

Hon Penny Simmonds: I am advised by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) that they do not require Tertiary Education Organisations (TEOs) to provide the number of learners enrolled as at 1st April or 1st October of each year. TEC requires TEOs to submit a Single Data Return (SDR) three times a year and each submission reflects all known enrolments and delivery at the time. TEOs must submit their SDR within the return period in April, August, and December. The data provided by TEOs is as at a specified extract date, for example in 2024, this was 15 April and, 7 August, and 31 December. I refer the member to the attached table that shows all learners enrolled at each Te Pūkenga business divisions between 2017 and 2024 as reported to the TEC in the April and August SDRs in each year.
